With my Grandmother’s traditional lemon bundt cake in mind, I set out to find my own delicious recipe and this is what I came up with:

Lemon Rhubarb Buttermilk Bundt Cake (say it five times fast)

It was a big hit at our family dinner and even though Grandma is in Illinois and couldn’t be here to taste it, I think she would have approved. Some of my most beloved dessert recipes have come from this wonderful book, “Rustic Fruit Desserts”.

It’s divided into chapters based on the seasons so if ever you are looking for a little inspiration, this is a pretty easy way to find a delicious, unique dessert made with fresh seasonal fruit. In the fall one of my favorite indulgences is this chocolate and caramelized pear upside down cake,

which can also be found in this book’s pages.

Happy Baking!

What I’m listening to this week in the kitchen:  The new album from Kurt Vile, “Smoke Ring For My Halo”.  Top tracks: “Baby’s Arms” (*swoon*) and “Peeping Tomboy”.  So good!

So Gibson makes a beautiful little guitar that they custom designed for Emmylou Harris, and sell a limited quantity of to the public.  I am proud to say that one of these fine instruments has been added to my collection!  It sounds heavenly and looks just as good…can’t wait to play it it live!

I have a few shows coming up at the end of April in addition to some exciting announcements coming your way.  In the meantime I’ve been writing and enjoying some sunshine here by the ocean.

Song of the week: Check out “Long Way Down” and “Desire” from Alela Diane & Wild Divine’s brand new album.  Love those folks!
